Color, to me, is an all-consuming passion and only in recent years has the world consented to join in. Fifteen years ago I nearly got into a fist-fight with a house painter because he refused REFUSED! to paint each room of the house a different color. I wanted the bedroom pastel green, the living room yellow, the guest bedroom hot pink. The poor guy wouldn't do it until he spoke to the man of the house. You're looking at her I said. I got my way eventually, but at the time, visitors could not deal with this. Now it's so the norm. Maybe my esthetic of the time was cringe-worthy, we're talking deep purple velvet couches against lemon yellow walls. Bah, I needed it out of my system.
Today, name a single person around you who has not dared at least one bright wall. But I'm over it. I find color on walls too much of a commitment and I rather have white, or else i would want rarer, subtler shades, paint that is more textured, closer to the effect of plaster.
