The events:
Yesterday, at precisely 8 p.m. Eastern Standard time, in pitch darkness and 50 degree temperature, dressed in head to toe rain suit, boots, plastic pants and all, I fell, headfirst, into my pool.
According to visual witnesses I didn't fall, as much as ran towards it and lept.
The explanation:
It's been raining hard in L.A. So hard that our drains could not keep up . The pool was overflowing and the water was creeping steadily toward the house and I had to (felt I had to) do something. So my big idea was to put garden hoses into the pool to syphon out some of the water. I was rushing, pulling, pushing, freaking out about the wood floor, my vision isn't good, my raincoat hood obscured what was left of it and someone had moved the pool to the left by a couple of feet.
The results:
Tsuna-mini averted. Flooding damages avoided. Humiliation quotient: High.

Oh my, you are a brilliant storyteller...even if it *does* come at the cost of your ego.
thank you! and I hope that you and your floors are still in good shape!

completely adorable! i think a certain amount of clumsiness only enhances a woman's allure. (at least that is my story, as a complete fumbler myself). and look at all the movie stars who make millions off of similarly adorable gaffe's.

We too had the looming rain-filled pool although ours did overflow and was steadily building up against the house by about 2 or 3 inches. We actually had a little submersion pump we hooked up to the garden hose and worked at draining the overflow before it seeped through the stucco. Alas, within a half hour my son said, "why is there water all over the floor?" on the OTHER side of the family room. Sigh. Moved the pump, worked on draining nature's pool in the front... drenched, cold, wet, dryer going with towels... At least my husband only broke one flashlight from swearing and throwing it. Your evening sounds much funnier and wish I could have seen it. Swim on girlfriend!
Love ya!

Sorry to say I'm laughing out loud but horrified at the same time...glad you're okay! I too donned boots and gear and braved the wind and rain to cover our poor bunny house then braved the creek in our yard to unclog the storm grate.... I guess I was lucky I kept my footing! I'm glad it only lasted a day.... remember 6 years ago? It lasted 6 days!
PS. Thanks for stopping by : )

My God! You might have drowned and I find this out 4 days later! I hope someone brought you a dry towel and made you a hot cocoa. Did you ever figure out who in hell moved that pool 2 feet over? Bastard.
