I'm taking polls. I'm trying to be neutral here but what do you stink about this video?

I think it's really random and kinda lame.

There are so many creative masters out there who, if given the chance and the means...well, we may never know. Shame. Such a shame.

i like it....it's got a good beat... i can dance to it...
Posted by: boops | March 12, 2010 at 06:45 PM
mlle paradis: I guess we won't need to, since she did for us.
Euphoria: what, you find smoking-cigarette-glasses random?
Liberty: I'm thinking of Madonna, how people (still) find her too over the top, too sexually aggressive, too pop. Then comes lady gaga, who despite all the piled-on shock value fails entirely to be controversial.
boops: I was too busy puzzling over the visuals to notice the beat.

I like it too :)
Have a great weekend :)

Ok so it might be creative, and controversial, the music is pretty good and the costumes can even be "special" , but I think american teens have seen enough sex and violence already. The prison scenes are random and nasty. And the way it describes lesbians churns my stomach, I wonder if the Gay Rights people will appreciate it....
Posted by: Isabelle | March 14, 2010 at 10:01 AM
I love love love love love it. It's just plan nasty and fun.
Posted by: Danette | March 14, 2010 at 12:32 PM
Um, I am not even sure what to think! I am sort of shocked I spent almost 10 minutes watching but I guess it's oddly mesmerizing in a kitch, tacky, "oh my God, does she really not have an ounce of cellulite way." I think it would be fun to design the costumes, however! And if I were to go out dancing in West Hollywood, the music would be fun to dance to!
Thanks for sharing... I am so out of it, I hadn't even heard about the video. (However the song, I admit, is on my cardio playlist!)

Seen it all before. I find nothing new or original about it.

Hi everyone!
I didn't like it at-all. I don't like her aesthetic, I don't see anything new and only a mix of Britney Spears videos (only that Gaga can't really dance) with an intention of Kill Bill's Quentin Tarantino copy... only that they don't make it even close!
The song? horrible. Repetitive and without content.
Sorry girls, I know I live in Salzburg, Austria and never watch TV anymore, but I think it's better not to, I realize I ain't missing anything...
Ho! And who wants to spend 9'of your life watching this Ga-ga, when you have Corine's blog! something tasteful and with meaningful content.
Cheers!

well, ahem, interesting, but its lady gaga. her music is good but her videos, well....
but i'll have to keep the soda cans as curlers in mind...:)
Posted by: My Casa Bella | March 15, 2010 at 04:39 PM
Kill Bill vs a (not so sexy) Thelma and Louise- I did not find
it artisitic - more like a distubing fashion show-
Please tell us what we can tell our young daughters that see this- I don't even
know- and Beyonce saying Mother f....er- she was a role model for so many.
Posted by: Dayna | March 15, 2010 at 05:29 PM
Isabelle: Yep, pretty cliché, the intimidating lesbian. None of the lesbians I know dress like this.
Danette: The nasty, I think, overwhelms the fun part.
Lucinda: I'm absolutely jealous at her lack of cellulite.
Angie: pretty rowdy crowd do you must hang out with :-)
Mercedes: Thank you love! Though without the gaga girl we'd have nothing to argue about today.
My casa bella: That was the best part for me, the curlers.
Dayna: Pushing the envelope artistically is fine, however, it becomes the new normal for our kids and I don't like that so much.

C'mon lady Gaga is only 24 years old! Of course she doesn't have cellulite and if she does, they can make every single not so nice spot out from your body with a simple software.
Her aesthetic is so bad to me and I don't find her a pretty girl... the problem now is that young kids like her? Ho-ho...
I wonder what my 1 1/2 years old will like in the future and how will this videos look like?!
I know we don't always comment about Platon here, but to talk about this kind of things sometimes, is also fun, right? ;)

I won't watch the video cause I am sure I won't like it or approve. The truth is Lady Gaga has a voice, I saw her sing and she can hold a note. Why the need to make that something perverse is beyond me. Besides, she is not doing anything New...Madonna beat her to the punch years ago.
Posted by: Corine | March 17, 2010 at 02:07 PM
Oh dear. it's rather crude and distasteful isn't it?
Posted by: trishie | March 17, 2010 at 08:26 PM
I couldn't invest the time in watching the whole thing. I agree with you that North American kids have enough violence in their lives with this added to it.
two things pop to mind.
What a lot of fuss about a mingy, measley, meager song. Really. The stuff she sings does not match her appearance. You'd expect something like Grace Jones or Patti Smith.
And I guess this is really just an ad for Virgin phones.

First, they've stolen the Pussy Wagon ... Only one person can do that.
Second, the song isn't interesting (a beat, voices, back to the early 90'S ??)
ANd above all : are they trying to copy Marilyn Manson, come on juste make something new !!
to sum up : I hate it :@

ick.

What..the..hell..was..that. Ew.
Ok, I think Gaga is smart, and hugely creative, and original. But you won't catch me voluntarily watching or listening to any of her stuff. Yuck.

Nasty and pornographic... I'm fed up watching female icons demeaning themselves in the media. It's shameful for our teenage girls - and sad that girls like Lady Gaga and Beyonce. I'm going to say this on my blog too. Pity, I thought she was going to be a breath of fresh air when she started! Much prefer Paloma Faith...

My 59 yr old bf is gaga for Lady Gaga's music. He's been talking about this video for days and I finally saw it in the place I least expected to find it: Corine's blog! LoL. I tweeted about Gaga and found some young people who told me only their dads are into her. So I guess either you have to be a teenage gay boy or an over-the-hill disco dancin' guy to like her music. I find all her music sounds the same (and yes, I agree it is very danceable and she does have a good voice). Her costumes look to me like Grace Jones meets David Bowie and the NY Dolls (the glam rock boys did it before Madonna). My opinion on the video? Raunchy and stupid. Of course it will make money. I just can't believe Beyonce agreed to it. She seemed so pro-girl-power from what little I've read about her.

I heard that this video is considered somewhat controversial, but if that's what they were aiming for it missed the mark. The video is essentially a man's fantasy of a women's prison. The women are thin, scantily cad and not at all like real inmates. Being true to our culture, the video sexualizes women and lesbianism while adding a dash of violence. The director was going for a Quentin Tarantino vibe, but overall comes off more like old Madonna. After being released from prison, Gaga & Beyoncé are portrayed in traditional gender roles and at the end add poison to their cooking. Didn't she poison a man in her Paparazzi video? How's that for innovation?

To me lady gaga is not talant and I also wonder about what kind of icons will be around when my children are being influenced by them. This video is just plain yuck. I agree with Martina......Nasty and pornographic... I'm fed up watching female icons demeaning themselves in the media. It's shameful for our teenage girls.
