I'm NOT complaining!

Now you're a mere 500 miles away, not 3,000. Almost neighbours.

How exciting -- can't wait to hear more! I used to live in NYC, and had a definite love/hate relationship with the city. It can also break you down with 1,000 small aggravations, but it also can be magical.
(And if you're figuring out where to live, I highly recommend Brooklyn. Some crazy Manhattanites refuse to visit Brooklyn, but I was the complete opposite. If I could have stayed in Brooklyn without working in the city, I never would have left! Very lovely, neighborhood-based, almost European feel.)

i moved back east 3 years ago after living in CA for 11 years. i now live just outside nyc, easy commuting distance on metro north, and we all LOVE it. so much culture to enjoy. and restaurants and lolling about in one fabulous cafe after another. galleries and museums, shopping of course, lovely. beaches with dunes on long island, shakespeare in the park, summer at lincoln center, all fabulous, oh and don't forget farmers market at union square. loads of fun things to see and do. when i lived in nyc before, i lived everywhere at one point or another, village, chelsea, brooklyn heights, upper east side, upper west side, etc. they all have their charms. you can't go wrong really. wonderful news.
