I have a question for Cannelle et Vanille, Tartelette and la Tartine Gourmande:
Sure you can bake amazing desserts and take gorgeous photographs, but can you make cake in a mug in your microwave in under three minutes?
Not having one of you in their kitchen, some people apparently willing to do anything for cake tried the recipe on an hilarious thread on Something Awful, found via about orange.
Here are some of the comments:
"Looks possible but looks nasty, like cotton"
"I actually have cocoa, just missing eggs... will this work out?"
"Do you think ap flour would work instead of cake flour?"
"Probably not, it looks like it barely works as it is."
"I would imagine AP flour would make it even more rubbery than it already predisposed to being"
and give a verdict:
"There isn't really much flavor and the texture is identical to foam rubber"
"I would rather poo poo in a cup and eat it."
"there may be a point where it becomes spongy during the liquid to rubber transition"
"Over the course of five minutes the scents that came from my microwave were: Cooking chicken, old motor oil, cocoa, and burned coffee."
"It took me two tries to get a fork into my leaning monstrosity, and when I bit into it, it was crunchy. I threw it at a wall as hard as I could and it didn't break at all."
Some became inventive:
"I put in 4 tbsp of strawberry quick and used ap flour since i didn't have cake flour. It was hard to mix."
"Here's the finished product. It tastes a little like strawberries, and a little like failure."
The thread goes on until someone volunteers their cup/microwave Huevos Rancheros recipe. (2 huevos, 1 ranchero)
"Place eggs in a cup. Put salsa on it."
"Put in microwave for three minutes at maximum power."
"scoop content back into the mug. enjoy."
This picture made me laugh so hard.

Cooking anything in a microwave is an abomination. We must have pity on the poor souls who are driven to such measures. For truly they know the depths of desperation.
Those are just nasty, yo.

Hilarious! I sadly experienced the last picture when I tried to warm an egg in the microwave. I stared in horror and shut the microwave door to think for a while.
ps: You know what cooks amazing in the microwave? Turkey! My parents always pre-cook the turkey in the micro, and then add the other stuff and put it in the oven. It is sinfully juicy and delicious because the microwave cooks it inside without drying it up.
