Today is the first day of May and all over France people are exchanging tiny bouquets of the most exquisitely scented of all flowers: the Muguet, or Lilly of the Valley. This is a lovely custom I took for granted. Streets vendors materialize at every corner with large baskets filled with the 'little clochettes blanches'. This is just for one day, for good luck, and to claim that spring has arrived (or better have).
I don't think I have smelled real muguet in years. Sigh...
I'm sending this picture to my mom.

Beautiful... Today is Labor Day in Spain too... a holiday. People taking vacation, my mom's birthday celebration... can we just jop on a plane and head back to Europe? I'll drop you off at CDG and I'll head over to BIO.

Oh, I love lily of the valleys...when I was little, living in Indiana, there was a place near me that had hundreds and hundreds of them growing wild. SO beautiful.

This is the flower of my Mother. It is her favorite so whenever I see it or smell it, I think of her. I actually just bought her some new fragrance with lily of the valley as the top note. I love this flower too, Lovely. Spring.
