But I wasn’t. Grrr. So I had to rely on others to take photographs.
What is Nuit Blanche? It is a cultural event when Paris (and recently other large cities around France and the world) devotes an entire night to the arts.
Is there an expression equivalent to Nuit Blanche in English? Is there even such a concept as to stay up all night, not to get smashed and laid, but in support and appreciation of the arts? (And then maybe to get smashed and laid)

Bertrand Delanoë, the Mayor of Paris, and man responsible for the summer even Paris Plage, and for making it perfectly natural to run, and be elected as a gay man, organized the first all night celebration of art and culture six years ago. The night of the first Nuit Blanche, in 2002, someone later found to be insane stabbed Bertrand Delanoë for his homosexuality.
In the United States, when we talk about culture, we think race, language, skin color and holiday celebration. In France they mean La Culture. A concept that encompasses a broad education and to the French, education cannot possibly be complete without an understanding, a knowledge if not an appreciation of sculpture, theater, painting, performance art, but also more modern mediums such as movies, or light shows.
